Two communities from two Provinces recently benefited from receiving waste management cleanup tools. Moli Community in Ulawa, Makira Ulawa Province and Ro’one Community in South Malaita, Malaita Province are the latest recipients to receive the Cleanup tools that will help them promote proper waste management in their rural communities.
Handing over the cleanup materials yesterday (Wednesday) was the Environment and Conservation Division (ECD) under the Ministry of Environment Climate Change Disaster Management & Meteorology (MECDM).
This is part of the Ministry’s plan to promote and expand proper waste management and awareness to the rural communities. The Ministry expect to work closely with these communities and to reach out to the other communities as well.
“I am pleased to handover the cleanup materials to support the two communities as part of the Waste Management Program. We hope the community find the materials useful to help them in their work. I encourage the public and other communities to continue with similar programs and hopefully our ministry can assist to support in one way or another”, Deputy Director Conservation said.
“Thank you for your support in the provision of the hardware tools and materials to assist us in our fight to manage and control wastes in our community” Assumpta Pina said when conveying the Moli Community message to the staff of the Environment and Conservation Division under the Ministry of Environment Climate Change Disaster Management and Meteorology.
Moli and Ro’one Communities are some of the beneficiaries which the Ministry have supported over the past years to promote and manage wastes and pollution for a cleaner, healthy and green Solomon Islands.
